About the Artist

Born in Seville and raised in Brixton, Sofia brings a warmth and intimacy to her documentary work that comes from being part of the communities she photographs. Her practice focuses on the everyday rituals, celebrations, and quiet moments of South London life — from Brixton Market traders to Windrush Day celebrations, from barbers to church choirs. Sofia studied Photojournalism at the London College of Communication and has contributed to The Guardian, Vice, and Dazed. Her series 'Electric Avenue' was exhibited at Black Cultural Archives and has become an important visual record of Brixton's evolving identity. She believes every neighbourhood deserves to see itself reflected in the art on its walls.
