About the Artist

Originally from Manchester, Maya moved to Hackney in 2016 and immediately fell in love with the area's constantly shifting character. Her practice centres on candid street photography, often shot during the golden hour when London's light transforms ordinary scenes into something cinematic. She shoots exclusively on film, developing and printing in her home darkroom. Maya's work explores themes of connection, solitude, and the quiet poetry of urban life. She holds a BA in Photography from the University of the Arts London and has been a member of the Street Photography London collective since 2019.
