About the Artist
Leya Rubin is a London-based emerging oil painter. She studied Mathematics at the University of Manchester before completing a Fine Art Graduate Diploma at the Royal College of Art. Her practice explores the intersection of organic shapes, pattern, and the human form, often blending figuration with imagined or fantastical elements. Working primarily in oil, Rubin constructs layered compositions that play with perception, inviting viewers to question what is seen and what remains hidden. Circles recur as a central motif throughout her work, reflecting an ongoing fascination with cycles, repetition, and wholeness. Through a balance of abstraction and representation, her paintings investigate the relationship between structure and intuition, reality and fantasy—drawing on both analytical thinking and painterly experimentation informed by her mathematical background. Her work has been exhibited in London, including Fragments of Her at Espacio Gallery, as well as at Indra Gallery.
